Project Description
According to WHO 136,000 maternal deaths took place in India in 2011. Assam the state where we carried out our study has maternal mortality ratio (maternal deaths per 100,000 live births) at 390 which is highest in India .NRHM (National Rural Health Mission) has established a a system with basic hierarchy as follows
Primary Health Centre(PHC) --> Sub-Centres --> ASHA workers --> Local Community to improve health services in rural India
The system consists of a very important person ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) a member of the community who acts like a link between the local community and the health service providers (PHC, Hospitals etc.).
According to our findings she is not able to fulfill her roles and responsibilities efficiently because of improper training and slag in the system.'Sahyogini' is a simple to use device for training of ASHA workers and once they are trained the same device would also be used as assisting device by ASHA workers so that they can carry out their activities more efficiently and effectively.
